writing and lyrics

Style of writing and lyrics

In the initial days of their music journey, Kiedis focused mainly on lyrics with a clever touch and sexual innuendos. They also wrote songs inspired by friendship and based on the personal experiences of the band members. After the death of his bandmate and close friend Hillel Slovak, the lyrics became more intense, emotional and reflective. Some such songs included “Knock me down,” “my lovely man,” etc. Later, songs like “one hot minute” were anguish, self-mutating thoughts that he had experienced as an addict to heroin and cocaine.
